Always in trouble for being too loud, the noise from this guy is not related to just the drums.Previously heavily involved in the PA but now Matt (Martins offspring) is really doing a brilliant job so Gaz is reduced to helpful comments!
Kit Played - Tama Starclassic Elite Bubinga, Masai Warlord Snare, Sabian Cymbals, Roland SPD SX Pro sampler (the one with the pretty lights), maracas, Congas and occasionally Bongo's - doesn't play a Cajon as he says he is too fat to lean down!
Now this is where it gets interesting, or maybe just odd and weird. Loves Prog Rock, Genesis, Rick Wakeman, loves electronic Ultravox, John Michelle Jarre, loves rock, Bruce Springsteen, ZZ top, likes pop, Taylor Swift, Abba, likes classical..... oh it just goes on, and on virtually something from every genre but doesn't like the Beatles or Sex Pistols.... yeah a bit weird huh?
For the bands total existence Gaz has been completely banned from singing... However, as mentioned somewhere else, George Shilling the genius producer and recording engineer has some absolutely amazing tools so the band allowed him to join in on the last chorus of Bruce Springsteens Dancing in the Dark (AAWB Soundcloud if you want to listen). After 2 hours post-production focused on integrating Gaz's voice, George was asked about Gaz's voice..... a one word answer "Salvageable" ......you judge......
Gaz is a bit odd as mentioned, and in order to prolong his life and manage his excessive weight he thought he would take up Triathlons. The band eventually stopped laughing when he completed his first "Sprint" and then went on to do lots more including the Tenby Long course, where a mile swim in the sea, the next day a 112 mile bike ride and a half marathon the day after was achieved, albeit not in fast times..... Dutifully he returned to non-fit and full fat over lockdown, but apparently is picking it up again......
Additionally his household is awash with collections of his good lady's 12 chickens, (some rescue ex-battery hens), 3 Indian Runner Ducks, 3 springer spaniels (also rescue/re-homed) and several hedgehogs perusing the garden. Thus over the weekends, much garden activity is needed.
Gaz also looks after the band's website, Twitter and Facebook sites, which is why they are often slow to get updated and sorted - just know he is always thinking about it, but if you have any suggestions, do feel free to message us! Apparently that is now easy to do with the features of this website!
